This project was fully typeset on Microsoft Word.
The most fun part about this project was learning more programming languages. I already know the usual stuff like HTML, CSS, PHP, Python, and JavaScript, but since this fic has 16 chapters, I couldn’t keep cycling through the same codes for the chapter headers. During a four-day period, I learned the basics of Go, Swift, Kotlin, React, and relived high school by reviewing C++.
Chapter 1 is titled “Bootloader”; do you see how I incorporated that into the design?
Chapter 9 is titled “Foreign Key Constraint”. There is a passage in this chapter that jokes about an applicant who used their name as a variable:
Who the fuck turns up nearly an hour early for an interview?” grumbles Dinesh, disconnecting his laptop from its peripherals.
“Gabriel Aristopoulos, apparently,” says Priyanka, checking the interview schedule on her phone. “Is he the one who aced the coding test but used ‘gabe’ as a variable name?”
“Yeah.” Dinesh shakes his head. “Fucking Gabe. Who the fuck uses their own name as a variable name?”
Spot ‘gabe’ in the header!
Chapter 16, the final chapter, is aptly titled “End of File”. Naturally, I ended the typeset with a closed curly brace to signify the “end of the statement”.
